SEO MCP: your AI fixes your site, CoolSEO checks it
Connect CoolSEO to Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code: your AI reads your audit, applies the fixes in your code, and CoolSEO re-checks your live page.

In short
CoolSEO's MCP server connects your SEO audit to the AI that codes your site (Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf). Your AI reads your priorities, gets the exact code for each fix and where to put it, applies it in your project, then CoolSEO re-checks your live page. CoolSEO never edits your site: your AI does, with your agreement. Included in Solo and Studio.
More and more websites are built or edited with an AI: Cursor, Claude Code, VS Code and its assistant, Windsurf. Until now, there was a gap between the SEO audit and the AI: the audit told you what to fix, but you had to explain it to your AI, copy the code, then come back to check. CoolSEO's MCP server removes that back-and-forth.
What is an MCP server?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard, introduced by Anthropic in late 2024 and now supported by most AI coding tools. Think of it as a standard plug: once CoolSEO is connected, your AI can use its tools on its own, while it works, just like you click a button on the site.
What it changes for your SEO
| Step | Without MCP | With CoolSEO's MCP |
|---|---|---|
| Find the issues | You read your audit | Your AI reads your audit, this week's new issues first |
| Fix | You explain it to your AI, you copy the code | Your AI gets the exact code and where to put it |
| Check | You run another audit | CoolSEO re-reads your live page: fixed or not yet |
| Track | You tick things off by hand | The fix is logged in your journal and action plan |
How it works, step by step
- You create your key in your Profile, under “Your AI (MCP)”. It's only shown once: keep it secret, like a password.
- You connect CoolSEO to your AI by pasting the matching block (the guide is here).
- You ask, for example: “Read my CoolSEO audit for my-site.com, apply the first 3 fixes, then verify them.”
- Your AI reads your audit (get_audit tool): your score out of 100, the 7 pillars and your priorities. New issues found by this week's tracking come first: Frosty, your SEO consultant, spotted them.
- It gets the fixes (get_fixes tool): each one with its exact code and where to put it for your site's platform.
- It edits your code and shows you what changes. You approve, then you deploy your site.
- It asks CoolSEO to re-check (verify_fix tool): CoolSEO re-reads the real page and answers “fixed” or “not yet”, with the page score before and after.
- It logs the fix as done (mark_done tool): it shows up in the “What Frosty did for you” journal in your Profile, and the item is checked off in your plan.
A (fictional) five-minute example
Julie runs a flower shop in Austin. Her site is built with Next.js using Cursor. Her audit flags three blockers: a page title that's too short, no llms.txt file, and no structured data telling machines it's a local business. She tells Cursor: “Fix my 3 CoolSEO priorities”. Cursor gets the fixes, adds the title and description in app/layout.tsx, creates public/llms.txt and adds the LocalBusiness JSON-LD block. Julie reviews, deploys, and Cursor asks for the check: all three are detected on the live page, and the page score goes up.
What CoolSEO can fix with code
- Being read by Google and AI: page excluded from Google (noindex), robots.txt blocking ChatGPT, Perplexity or Claude, missing sitemap, canonical tag.
- Presenting your pages well: title, meta description, main heading (H1), page language, mobile display, share preview (Open Graph).
- Being understood by machines: your business described in JSON-LD (Organization, or LocalBusiness for a local business), FAQ markup built from the questions already on your page, llms.txt file.
CoolSEO recognizes your site's platform (Next.js, WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Webflow, Squarespace, or React with Vite, like sites built with Lovable or Bolt) and says where to put each piece of code. Drafted texts (title, description, llms.txt) come from your own page and are marked “review”: nothing is made up.
Some issues concern the whole site rather than one page, like “few pages” or “no editorial content”. For those, your AI gets the advice from the action plan, and the next audit confirms they're solved.
How much it costs
| Tool | What it does | Credits |
|---|---|---|
| get_account | Your plan, remaining credits, your sites | 0 |
| get_audit | Your latest audit and priorities | 0 |
| get_fixes | The fixes with their code, after re-reading your page live | 1 |
| verify_fix | Re-checks a fix on your live page | 1 |
| mark_done | Logs the fix in your journal and plan | 0 |
MCP is included in the Solo and Studio plans (see pricing). A full round on one page, fixes then a check, costs 2 credits. If your page can't be read, the credit is refunded. Your AI itself stays paid by you, with its own subscription. Without an account, three checks stay free for everyone: AI crawler access, Google indexability and SEO basics.
What about security?
- CoolSEO never edits your site. It only reads your public pages. Your AI changes your code, in your project, with your agreement.
- Your key is secret. It's a long random code, shown only once; CoolSEO only keeps a fingerprint of it, which can't be turned back into the key. You can revoke it in one click, and have 3 keys at most.
- A key only sees your sites. It gives access to your account's tracked sites only, and calls are limited (20 per minute, 120 per hour).
- If your key leaks, someone could spend your credits and read your audits, but not touch your site. Revoke it in your Profile and create a new one.
The limits, honestly
- Claude on the web and ChatGPT don't accept a personal key yet: they only get the three free checks. For your account tools, you need Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code or Windsurf.
- MCP helps when your AI has access to your site's code. On WordPress, Wix or Shopify without a code project, you apply the fixes yourself with your action plan's step-by-step guide.
- Fixing an issue removes a blocker; it doesn't guarantee a Google ranking or an AI citation. Always review what your AI changes before you deploy.

Frequently asked questions
Is CoolSEO's MCP free?
The three checks (AI crawlers, indexability, SEO basics) are free, with no account. Your account tools (audit, fixes, re-checks) are included in Solo and Studio and use your credits, just like on the site.
Does CoolSEO edit my site?
No. CoolSEO gives your AI the diagnosis, the exact code of the fixes and where to put it, then re-checks your page. Your AI edits your code, in your project, with your agreement.
Which AIs does it work with?
Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf: any AI that accepts an HTTP MCP server with an authorization header. Claude on the web and ChatGPT only get the free checks for now.
What if the fix isn't detected after deploying?
A cache may still serve the old version of your page for a few minutes: wait a bit and run the check again. CoolSEO also tells you what it sees on the page, so you understand what's missing.
